Health Literacy-Related Knowledge and Experience among Nurses Practicing in Medical-Surgical Wards

Background: Medical-surgical nurses are responsible of providing competent care to clients with a wide-array acute and chronic health problems. This challenging task requires arming advanced competencies literacy effectively educate their clients. However, evidence about medical-surgical nurse’s literacy-related knowledge experience is limited. Purposes: study aimed determine the level among nurses.Design: A descriptive-cross-sectional was conducted total sample 177 who were practicing in wards teaching hospitals Iraq. convenience sampling method used select participants. Data collected using Health Literacy Knowledge Experiences Survey-2 (HLKES-2). Descriptive statistics Chi-square test for data analysis.Results: The majority (92.3%) had low regarding more than half participants (58.7%) an acceptable experience.Conclusion: Nurses’ information needs be updated via continuous education enhance practice this aspect.
